What Does This SO2 Measure While Having Bronchiectasis Indicate?

I was sitting here earlier and my SO2 reading was 90, but l can walk around the block and sometimes it might be 99. Why? I had cancer and had two lobes of my right lung removed 8 years ago and have bronchiectasis in the remaining lobe. I am on O2 thru the night and as needed during the day.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor services.
I have read your query and here is my advise.

* So far as oxygen saturation in pulse oxymetry is concerned, findings
are quite well for oxygenation of lungs, but there can be multiple
reasons for alteration in levels as

- variation in oxygen saturation of breathing air and supplied oxygen
during night
- underlying bronchi spasm at night from poor lung physics of
remaining lobe

In my clinic, I do suggest to take a detailed pulmonary function test to reveal all inspiration and expiration parameters into evaluation and further management guidelines.

Thanks.
