I had an ultrasound done to check my cartoid arteries and the results that they didnt find any stenosis in the ecternal carotid artery and no plaque. Did they check the wrong artery?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Though internal carotid checked on MRA is reliable enough and they might have planned to see the external carotid only on Doppler but it's better to evaluate both internal and external carotids but good thing is that no plaque or infarct had been noted and congenitally small calibre arteries may be present and may not be troublesome clinically.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
