What Does This CT Scan Result For Lung Indicate?

My doctor sent me in for a CT scan on my lungs. She wanted to know if I had nodules on them. I went this last week and had it done. I got the results today off of the computer. I cut half of it off because I made the print to big but I will sent what part I can see. It says the lungs demonstrate no definite nodules. no scarring seen. ????? Hilar and mediastinal structures demonstrate vascular calcification ?? additional abnormalities are demonstrated. Upper abaoman is unremarkable. Impression: No evidence of pulmonary nodules or pulmonary mass lesions. Vascular calcifications. otherwise unremarkable exam. I looked in my medical dictionary and looked up the word hilum and mediastinal.. it says pulmonis hilum of the lung. the depression on the mediastinal surface of the lung where the broncus and the blood vessel and nerves enter. I also had a echo cardiogram. They say I have atoric stenosis. please explain this to me thanks cindy

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Welcome to HCM
I have read and understood your query
I hope this will be helpful
you have not mentioned your age and the complaints for which your doctor advised you CT scan and echocardiography.
but i will try to explain your finding in the simplest way possible.
With increasing age there is increase deposition of calcium along the walls of blood vessels.this causes narrowing of the blood vessels and increase in pressure that may result in hypertension. This calcification can also effect the valves of the heart and increase the pressure over there that has resulted in aortic stenosis or aortic valve narrowing.
What you need to do is a regular check up from your cardiologist. You dont need to worry as it can be managed with an easy cardiac procedures.
I hope this was helpful.you can come back anytime with another query.
