What Does This CT Scan Report Of Lung Indicate?

I am 56 years old female, non smoker. No known lung exposures or infections. Having sudden onset dyspnea on exertion. CXR shows large lung volumes with fibrosis in apices suspicious for emphysema. Pulm function tests show mild obstructive lung disease. CT shows mild bi apical pleural parenchymal fibrosis. I have to wait a month to see a pulmonologist. Can you tell me if I should be worried about a diagnosis of pulmonary fibrosis? Is that a possibility? Thank you.

Hello,

Pulmonary fibrosis is unlikely related to smoking. It the pulmonary function test is fairly within the normal range nothing much to worry and you can lead to near normal range. Steroids are the treatment of choice.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
