What Does This CT Scan Report Indicate?

Could you help me understand my diagnosis. My CT Scan showed minimal mucosal thickening of the ethmoid and inferior bilateral maxillary sinus . There is patent bilateral sphenoethmoidal recesses, frontal recesses, and maxillary outflow tracts. There are no air-fluid levels. What does this mean? My doctor has put me on two months of Augmentian to cure this infection.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If there is thickening of mucosa, it means there's is an infection or allergy or nasal block etc.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Avoid spicy food and alcohol, avoid smoking and caffeine drinks.

Avoid cool drinks and frozen water. Use water vapor inhalation and salt water gargling thrice a day for five days.

Continue antibiotics, please send the mucosal secretions or pharyngeal wall swab for culture sensitivity.

If symptoms not improved, please consult your ENT specialist. He will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care.
