What Does The Following Colonoscopy Report Suggest?

I had a colonoscopy and 2 diminutive polyps were found in the ascending colon, seven diminutive polyps in the sigmoid colon, one diminutive in the rectum. Also, Erythematosus mucosa found in splendid flexure as well as the rector sigmoid colon. Could any of these things be connected to gastric cancer?

Hello,

Just mere presence of polyps in the colon doesn't mean that there is a connection with gastric cancer. Few of the colonic polyps are associated with increased risk for gastric cancer (particularly Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP). But in the query, you didn't mention the age and other signs and symptoms.

My suggestion, please consult a gastroenterologist and go for a colonoscopic biopsy of the polyps. Then based on the histopathology of the polyps biopsy, your gastroenterologist will decide further management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Siddartha
