What Does The Following Cardiac MRI Test Results Indicate?

Hi, I just had a cardiac MRI test done and although everything turned out ok I am concerned with a statement on the report that says: There is a 4 mm nodule in the left lower lobe. Consider follow up CT in 6 months . Are they referring to my lungs? And could this be something serious? Thank You! Debra

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The MRI shows presence of a 4 mm nodule in lower lung lobe.
Nodules in lung fields are suspicious until proven otherwise.
The nodule can be a calcified lymph node, benign lesion, or even a malignant lesion.
Follow up after few months is required to monitor the progression of the lesion.
In case the lesion increases in size, it has to investigated with CT guided aspiration cytology.
If there is no change in size, it can be safely followed up at regular intervals of 6 months.
Consult a pulmonologist for further work up.

Thanks and take care
