What Does Swelling In The Ankles Indicate?

I have had a swollen ankle off and on, just at bottom of my leg, not the foot, just right ankle.I am on BP med--lisonopril (20mg)and amlodipine(5 mg) 1 XD, bp: 118/62 this morning. Have a history of injury to that ankle--sprain,strain--several times in past but not recently. I take ampyra(10 mg) 2XD presribed by neurologist for MS. Also Calcium w/ D 2XD, B12 3k mcg 1XD (Neuro Rx)

Hello,

Since you are saying swelling is a unilateral region, I think there is ligament tear or fracture due to the past trivial injury. If you had neglected, please get an x-ray done for the same to rule out. If it's not that, then it could be disuse edema where your leg circulation might have been hampered due to any reason and could have caused it. It is unlikely to be the cardiac origin, where bilateral edema occurs due to right heart failure, I prefer you to examine and then come to the conclusion.
