What Does Slightly Heterogenerous Marrow Signal, Possibly Due To Underlying Marrow Dysfunction Mean?

What does slightly heterogenerous marrow signal, nonspecific, may be due to underlying marrow dysfunction and/or infiltrative process- correlate with bone scan mean? Otherwise, no definite acute intracranial findings and without significant intracranial abnormality. Essentially unremarkable signal intensity of the brain except for a few scattered small foci of T2/ FLAIR hyperintensity within the cerebral white matter, nonspecific, but likely within normal limits for age. I am 64 Female Should I be worried. I was in a car accident and hit my head very hard on the left side!

Hi,

It's quite difficult to say outside of a context. First, basically nobody gets examination of the bone marrow for a traffic accident. It might be a finding for another imaging study. Heterogeneous bone marrow means it looks irregular which is due to increased activity or something invading it like cancer. It is common with infection or inflammation to cause some abnormality in the marrow as the cells are activated. cannot say in your particular case, but generally.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
