Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had severe pain in both my feet for the last three days. I have been operated on for plantar fasciitis in both feet and this is not the same kind of pain. It’s like my feet are really sore and that makes it painful to walk. Additionally a portion of the front and side of my leg near my left foot is sore. No swelling no redness, but when my feet are elevated it feels as if tiny champagne bubbles are bursting in my feet. I’ve experienced this when my feet have been swollen and are going down. The longer I walk, the more painful it becomes. My toes don’t seem to be involved. It’s mostly my heels and arches, less so the ball of my foot.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Swollen ankles and swollen feet are common and usually not cause for concern, particularly if you have been standing or walking a lot. But feet andankles that stay swollen or are accompanied by other symptoms could signal a serious health problem. An injury to the foot or ankle can lead to swelling. The most common is a sprained ankle, which occurs when an injury or misstep causes the ligaments that hold the ankle in place to be stretched beyond their normal range. To reduce the swelling from a foot or ankle injury, rest to avoid walking on the injured ankle or foot, use ice packs, wrap the foot or ankle with compression bandage, and elevate the foot on a stool or pillow. If swelling and pain is severe or doesn't improve with home treatment, see your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
