What Does Severe Pain In The Epigastric Area Indicate?

I have been sick and in severe pain from my epigastric area through to my back. Also have a gurgling sound when I drink anything and sometimes feel it doesn t go down right away once it reaches the epigastric area. I can tell mostly if I drink something hot or very cold. Elevated lipase at 90 and lft s slightly increased. Countless tests and imaging including MRCP, MRI, EUS, EGD w biopsy showing gastritis once then a repeat was normal. 8 months now and a loss of 30 lbs, down to 123lbs, from not eating and still no answers. Gallbladder removed 22 years ago and I m 35. Only finding is a 9mm bile duct. Recent EGD normal but they suctioned my bile duct. Felt great for two days and then symptoms returned severely. Don t drink or do drugs. I m desperate for an answer or suggestion.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

* The possible reason here for the severe pain radiating to back indicates possible issue with biliary drainage system or pancreas.

* I would like to evaluate the case in detail with all reports as an attachment in the follow up session.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
