What Does Severe Pain In The Elbows Indicate?

I have had pain in elbow for several months. It is painful to move and can pinpoint spot of soreness. I do not do any sports/activities using the elbow. Recently recovered from frozen shoulder on same side (left). Didn t injure it and wondering what is source or if I should seek treatment.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It is most likely a condition called bursitis which ma be caused by trauma or by any other irritation of cubital bursa, a small fat pad in elbow. At this point your should rest with elbow, apply ice, take non steroid painkilllers and elevate your arm and put elastic compress. It should lead to symptom improvement within 12 hours. Later, if there is no improvement, it would be advisable to do X-rays and see if fracture exist. Also, hematoma or seroma accumulation may persist and then elbow punture and fluid evacuation should be done by doctor.

I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time. Wish you good health.
