What Does Rounded Opacity In Left Lung Base Mean?

Yes, I was just diagnosed with broncotis again 2nd time in the last 2 months. I had a chest X-rays and got a call today from the medical aide center to contact my family doctor to do a follow up ct scan. They said it showed a left base of lung a rounded opacity. What could this mean?

Welcome to Health care magic.

1. There is a rounded opacity noted in the base of left lung - it causes a suspicion what kind of the lesion it is ( cystic, solid, mixed ).
2.On the x-ray a lesion can be seen but obvious characterisation of the lesion is not possible some time.
3.On computer tomography CT scan, it will well characterise the lesion, nature of the lesion and content of the lesion ( blood, clear fluid, infected material ), at the same time also detects where it is arising from and what all it is involving.
4.Finally the diagnosis will be BIOPSY from the lesion.
5.It could be a simple located fluid collection ( effusion ) - good luck.

Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health.
