What Causes Extra Pulmonary Lesion?

Hv just received my chest xray report. Comments were: A homogenous opacity with well defined upper border is seen in the left lung base. This has the appearance of an extra-pulmonary lesion, eg pleural lesion, localised hump of the diaphragm, etc. What does it mean?

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

According to X-ray report there is a homogenous opacity with well defined upper border is seen in the left lung base.Lesion seems to be outside the lung.It may be due to pleural lesion, diaphragmatic hump etc.
Ultrasound of thorax will be helpful in your case to determine origin.CT scan can be done if needed.
Hope i have answered your query.
Get well soon.

Take Care
