What Does Right Lateral Compromise And Exit Foramen Narrowing Mean?
I had a minimally invasive surgery on L5 in January 2001. I had an mri this week because I have experienced some pain in lower back and pain down right side of my leg down to my knee lately. The "impression" on my mri report states: Significant right lateral compromise and exit foramen narrowing at L5-S1 secondary to most likely protrusion and possible extrusion of disc into that location. There are associated degenerative disc disease changes on the axial images. Correlation with interventional procedures is recommended. There is a small metal artifact. I also question partial laminectomy defect at L5. Remaining levels are unremarkable. What does this mean?
Hi, dear. I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. You have right lateral side disc prolapse at L5-S1.so that it affects the nerve root segment of tthat area because of narrowing of that area. Moreover your MRI indicate partial laminectomy defect is due to prior surgery. You should consult your spine specialists and take treatment of that. Take rest and physiotherpy. Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
