What Does Positive Result In HPT With Bleeding Post Abortion Suggest?
I got the abortion on the seventh of this month an had sex the week after my abortion but still bleeding my bleeding stop once every week. I took a pregnancy test too times came out positive. one time last week and one time this week so can I be pregnant or not

Usually, an HPT is positive up to 2 months or so after abortion, even if you are not pregnant. This is due to the fact that HCG levels, raised during pregnancy will not be eliminated immediately after abortion. These will decrease gradually to a level, where these are not detectable in HPT test. Normally a level of 25mu/ml or above will be detected, in HPT, thus giving a positive result.
Hence almost up to 2 months after an abortion, even if you are not pregnant, HPT test may be false positive. Still, if you had an unprotected sex after abortion and if it is time of ovulation, chances of pregnancy may be still there and HPT will be positive.
If, a pregnancy is suspected, then, it is always better to have two pregnancy tests one week apart. If the second test shows increased hCG LEVELS than first one, a pregnancy is likely. A decreasing level will show a negative pregnancy result.
