What Does Painful Bulge Under The Skin On Right Elbow Indicate?

my boyfriend has a bulge on his right elbow that is under the skin (he says on the ball joint) and it is very painful to the touch. Do you have any thougts on what this could be? Ive been researching tendonitis and tennis elbow but he doesnt do anything with repetitive movement regularly.

Hi, I really appreciate your concern bout his health. As a physician, I would like to tell you that there are many reasons behind Painful bulge on Elbow. But in your case, he most likely diagnosis could be Olecrenon Bursitis or Student's elbow. And yes the diagnosis could be established only after thorough patient examination.
I would also like to suggest that he should avoid lifting heavy loads and heavy work for few days and apply ice on the bulge. Take some rest as well as some OTC paid medication or other prescription NSAIDs like combiflam.
The above mentioned measures will suffice for his condition But if the problem still consist even after taking rest and above measures, you would have to see your Orthopedician for further treatment. Hope I have answered your question correctly. Feel free to ask any queries. Have a nice day.
