What Does Pain On The Base Of The Thumb Indicate?

A few days ago the muscle on the palm of my hand slightly to the left of the base of my thumb started hurting. I moved my thumb and felt a strange intention. The intention is between two lines of muscle I’m guessing that are visible when I move my thumb in certain ways. The pain is now gone, but the indentation is still there. What is wrong with my hand?

Hello,

There was a pull of the tendons sometime and you have not noticed it or there is infection or tendonitis to the part you are referring. Usually, it will subside on its own without the necessity of any medication.

If it is getting worse, then take any anti-inflammatory drugs like paracetamol, Ibuprofen, etcetera which can help hamper the disease process. If it is really paining, then you can take the additional analgesic like diclofenac, tramadol for temporary relief for 3 to 5 days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
