My left knee started hurting two days ago. I am on my feet all day at work, so I just thought I needed rest. I woke up this morning and it was swollen and hurt more. I don t remember anything specific that I could ve done. I work in an elementary school and lift heavy handicapped children.

hi mam/sir,knee pain and swelling of acute origin indicate some trauma.it might be an unnoticed injury especially of the soft tissues around the knee joint like a sprain.initial non pharmacologic treatment is (RICE) i.e;rest, ice compression, elevation of affected knee.you can also have any pain medication like NSAIDs for immediate pain relief.but thorough knee joint examination by an orthopedic doctor cant be overlooked.so,if your symptoms are too much distressing or no relief with any of the above measures, kindly visit an orthopedician.thank you.take care.bye.
