Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

In all probability, you are having a sprained ankle ligament or tendon. That is the reason that when you rested the foot for a day, the pain subsided.

However, you will have to Offload the foot, that is non-weight bearing, till complete healing of the sprained ligaments, which may take 10 days to 3 weeks, depending on the degree of injury.

Please do get an x-ray of the foot and ankle AP, lateral and Oblique views to rule out a fracture, and please get it opined by a Radiologist or an Orthopedic surgeon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ajit Kumar Varma
