What Does Pain In Buttocks On The Right Side Indicate?

I have a dull aching pain that seems to go from my right buttox down the backside of my right lg and seems to stop in the area behind my knee. My leg feels sort of weak when this happens, which is mainly when I stand or walk. I do have degenerative OA in my lower spine (as well as other joints also. Could this pain be associated with my OA in my spine?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms are suggestive of nerve entrapment. I would advise you to undertake some basic physiotherapy exercises, for example, leg raises to strengthen your lower back. Additionally, minimize standing for an extended duration. You could also use a cold pack over the painful side. An analgesic like Diclofenac could be helpful to relieve the pain. You could alternatively use a Diclofenac gel over the painful areas. Physiotherapy is the most effective.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan
