What Does Oval Red Rash On Tongue Indicate?

Hi, I noticed an oval shaped mark on the right side of my 18 month olds tongue some time ago along with other white patches & treated him for thrush & thought no more of it. Many weeks,probably months later now & this evening I have noticed the exact same distinctive mark on the end of his tongue in exactly the same place & same shape. It has a reddish/pink oval ring around it surrounded by another outer whitish ring which is quite even & defined & ? Slightly raised which looks almost like blistering but I am sure it s not. Please could I have your advise-Thankyou x

hi. I have read your question and understand your concern.

oval shaped area over tongue lined by slightly raised border is suggestive of geographic tongue. geographic tongue is known to recurr time and again.

you need worry at all for geographic tongue as it is a benign disorder and does not lead to any harm. no investigation or treatment is necessary.
