General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

There is some retained bits of tissues left behind after abortion. Normally it will get expelled over time. If it persists for long, it might lead to unwanted complications like infection and sepsis.

Follow up scans are required to confirm whether it is expelled completely or not.

If the products persist for long, surgical removal in the form of D&C may be required. Consult a gynecologist and he will direct you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
