What Does My Scan Report Say?

Ultrasound scan report shown normal uterus and normal right ovary. Left ovary contains a cyst 40x29x27mm. There is a solid looking area on left wall 17mm which is suggestive of an area of dermoid cyst. No Doppler flow seen within and no adnexal masses orfree fluid seen. What does this mean medically as I had bilateral cystectomy in April for removal of two large dermoid cysts. thank you

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

You might be having multiple dermoid cysts. There is a persisting dermoid cyst in left ovary and it may need surgical treatment if there is significant pain in the pelvis. Dermoid cysts grow slowly and the ultrasound features are pointing to a dermoid as there is a solid area within the cyst besides you have a history of ovarian dermoids.
