Hi,
Let me explain to you regarding the lab reports which says that your kidneys are swollen means your kidney, I had a similar case yesterday in my OPD:
1) Kidney stones form in kidneys but as it passes down it will obstruct the ureter (the tube which connects your kidney to the
urinary bladder.)
2) This obstruction causes stagnation of the urine and even backflow.
3) This makes kidney to get enlarge in size due to obstruction, stagnation which may lead to inflammation and infection.
4) It happens in people with large size
renal calculi (any calculi over 5 mm.)
Now to your second query, how it will take for your stone to pass, it depends on the size, location and the measures you are taking. Let me give you a few simple steps which will help you:
1) Drink plenty of water preferably RO water (
Reverse Osmosis.)
2) Avoid foods that can cause calculi formation such as cauliflower, red meat, tomato, brinjal, junk foods, tea, chocolate, etc. for a while.
3) I recommend any supplementation containing
potassium citrate which binds to oxalate and prevents the formation of the renal calculi.
4) Drink coconut water, it helps too.
5) Have food rich in
vitamin A as it prevents the formation of recurrent
renal stones.
6) I used to prescribe alpha blockers for patients with renal stones as it dilates the ureter and aids in the passage of stones less than 5 mm in many cases.
7) If the pain is severe or if you experience any symptoms like chills, fever or
dizziness or decreased urine output kindly visit a Doctor, he may order for a repeat USG and prescribe appropriate antibiotics.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Moses John Wesley,
