Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband has a colonoscopy on May 1, 8 days later nausea/fever. I took him to urgent care on Friday due to temp 102 ear. Tested positive for strep and negative flu. On Z pack x day 3. Fever broke/came back now 2 nights is a row frozen to the point of shivering. Can this be a complication from the colonoscopy? He had 4 polyps removed. Thanks
Yes, this is possible complication of the colonoscopy. This test can result with intestine perforation, especially if diverticulitis is present. Fever can be a sign of abdominal abscess. Polyp removal can also cause perforation. He should have abdominal x-ray and ultrasound done to rule it out.
Hope this helps. Regards.
