What Does My Colonoscopy Report Indicate?

My husband has a colonoscopy on May 1, 8 days later nausea/fever. I took him to urgent care on Friday due to temp 102 ear. Tested positive for strep and negative flu. On Z pack x day 3. Fever broke/came back now 2 nights is a row frozen to the point of shivering. Can this be a complication from the colonoscopy? He had 4 polyps removed. Thanks

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Yes, this is possible complication of the colonoscopy. This test can result with intestine perforation, especially if diverticulitis is present. Fever can be a sign of abdominal abscess. Polyp removal can also cause perforation.
He should have abdominal x-ray and ultrasound done to rule it out.

Hope this helps.
Regards.
