Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
From YYYY@YYYY I had a blood test and showed positive to heptatis A and I was not immunised. Does this mean necessarily that I have liver cancer. Should I pay to have an ultrasound or wait until it comes up for me to have it. I have always had perfect health all my life and am a sportsperson. I do not drink alcohol but it was suggested that I must be an alcoholic. However a doctor I assisted at car accident resulted in my being covered in his blood prior to ambulance. I was sprayed with foam by ambulance/firemen and then drove home when ambulance left.
1st of all.. you have mentioned Hepatitis A and you are providing data suggestive of hepatitis B. If you are positive for Hep A, then no need to worry. No such studies as progression to liver cancer. If it is Hep B, you have consult gastroenterologist. There are so many treatment options available as Antiviral drugs. Which diminished disease progression.. and also if untreated also chance of liver cancer is low. There are so many persons living with this positive blood result as asymptomatic. Even in higher number people lives with in tested status.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Rishad T. K., Orthopedic Surgeon
