What Does My Blood Test Report Indicate?

Husband s recent blood work showed these tests out of the norm: RBC 4.35, MPV 6.8, C02 33.0, Ast 47. He was recently diagnosed with a small bowel neuroendocrine carcinoid tumor. Going for further tests, specifically, octreoscan. Does the blood work mean anything more? What will the scan tell us?

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Hemoglobin appears to be mildly reduced due to low RBC count.
2. MPV near normal range and Co2 and AST is mildly elevated - not be concenred about.
3. Octreoscan is a radiological study, used to assess any neuroendocrine tumor. It can show the locations of carcinoid tumor, if present at more than one.
4. Based on Octreoscan, further studies maybe necessary. Now, other reports, provided are near normal limits.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
