What Does My Abdominal Ultrasound Finding Hyper Echogenicity Representing Parenchymal Calcification Mean?
My abdominal ultrasound said: Hyperechogenicity measuring 5 mm within the right renal parenchyma may represent parenchymal calcificatgion, unlikely rental stone. Left renal cyst.
Recommend Ct abdomen to evaluate abnormal findings further.
1. The report indicates that there is a hyper-echoic ( bright / white) area measuring 5mm seen in the right kidney parenchyma. 2.The hyper-echogenicity is seen in the calcifications and same in the stones but location wise its unlikely a calculus. 3.This can be seen after a healed infection in the kidney - one of the possible cause. 4.CT would help to better evaluate the calcifications and location. 5.If you are asymptomatic - the ideal thing you can do at this time would be - followup if there is increase in decrease in size. 6.If symptomatic possible cause should be evaluated, calcification general won't give any symptoms. Get CT done . Good luck.
Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health. Anything to ask ? do not hesitate. Thank you.
