What Does My Echo Test Report For Chest Pain Indicate?

I had chest pains about a month and a half to 2 months ago and I went to a Cardio surgeon... I had an Echo and a stress test. The Echo found ALL of these things. Monday I am going for a Cardio Cath and I m scared... This long list is terrifying... Is it as scary as it looks??? Left ventricular diastolic function is mildly impaired.Moderate hypokinesis of the apical septum. The left atrium is mildly dilated. There is trace tricuspid regurgitation Pericardial fibrinous strands are noted.Apical septum is thin walled ?old scar.Small anterior pericardial effusion - appears to be chronic.Mild Left Atrial enlargement by volume,Mild diastolic dysfunction

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The heart is divided into the right and left side. Each side has an upper area called the atrium and a lower area called the ventricle.
The septum refers to the walls separating the right from the left.

Systole is the contraction of the heart to get out the blood and diastole refers to the relaxation phase when blood collects.

According to the result, the left ventricle is not relaxing as it should, there is only a mild problem with this.
The septum is also moving less than it should.

There is also mild enlargement of the left atrium with blood going in a direction it should not (stated this is mild- only a trace).

According to the summary the changes are mild but need to be prevented from worsening by controlling risk factors- high blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, no smoking, healthy diet and appropriate physical activity.

I hope this helps
