What Does My CT Scan Report Indicate?

I have a problem with my left diaphragm. It is stretching and not contracting back. The CT scan reader thought it was a hernia because the stomach and spleen are higher than they should be. I saw a general surgeon and he said it is not a hernia, there is no hole. The diaphragm is stretching and things are moving up and really pressing on my left lung. He suggested a Thoriasic surgeon. Is that the right way to go and how urgent is this?

It looks like left hemydiafragma paralysis, which can be caused by a range of deseases. In most cases is a benign condition and you don't have to do any treatment, but you have to exclude some types of mediastinal malignancies which can compress your left phrenic nerve and cause its paralysis. You have done the CT and if it was any mediastinal mases the doctor would have prescribed it. So for me don't worry.
