Hello and welcome to HCM, A MRI diagnosis of multiple hyperintensities in cerebral hemispheres suggestive of infants implies presence of multiple areas with low blood supply to a specific area in the brain. Multiple infarcts can result from decreased blood supply to brain which can be due to multiple hemorrhages, vasospasm of blood vessels, ischemic attacks, etc. An assessment of vascular system of brain needs to be done with Doppler to look for any evidence of vessel narrowing. Blood vessel narrowing can occur due to atherosclerosis, vasospasm, etc. Thus, consult your neurologist for further work up. A repeat MRI is also required to look for progression of the condition.
