What Does Low Iron Saturation And High Ferritin Serum Levels In A TIBC Test Indicate?

I received my Iron and TlCB test and here were the results... Iron 44 normal Iron Bind.Cap. (TlBC) 320 normal UlBC 276 normal Iron Saturation 14 Low In addition, my Ferritin Serum is very high. It’s 219, but the normal range is 15 to 150 ng/mL What does this mean if all are normal except the saturation and the Ferritin Serum (Protein)?

Hi,

Serum ferritin reflects iron store. So it's elevation suggest towards hemolytic anaemia case or hemochromatosis.

But let me know you it is acute phase reactant as well, means in any inflammation in the body also it can be elevated. So repeat serum ferritin after few days.

If still elevated than will guide you further.

Low iron saturation warrants toward iron deficiency. Provide your full CBC report to check it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
