What Does Linear Density In The Middle Lung Mean?

Hi. I recently had my chest xray as part of my medical examination for employment purposes. It was my first time to undergo such diagnostics. Two days after, the clinic called and told me to have a repeat chest xray because according to them, my lungs did not expand well as expected. So the next day I went back to the clinic and had another chest xray. The following day, I was declared UNFIT to work by the said clinic because the result was LINEAR DENSITY RIGHT MIDDLE LUNG . My question is, what does that mean? What is it s clinical significance? Is it a disease or something contagious? Is it linked to PTB? I haven t had any cough, fever, night sweats or bloody sputum. But I m really scared. I would really appreciate your help. Thank you.

Hello,
Welcome to healthcaremagic.com and thank you for sharing your concern with us.
Such findings on X ray could be seen in different conditions . Linear increased density is a x ray finding , not a diagnosis , and should further be interpreted and if needed further testing should be done . As you don't have any sign and symptom of TB so PTB is less likely to happen but should be ruled out . Such findings can be indicative of vascular problems , atelactasis , endobronchial lesion , any lymph node , scar , T.B. ,Tumor .
I would recommend you to discuss this matter further with Pulmonologist for definitive diagnosis and to rule out any serious issue.
I wish you good health.
Best Regards ,
Dr.S.Tomar
