What Does Intermittently Wide & Irregular Rhythm In A EKG Report Indicate?

On a ekg with intermittently wide & irregular rhythm, is that a serious issue? I m 69 almost 70 with very few health issues & I owned & run a small business. I had done a health app for life ins & they said my ekg was abnormal. I have a yearly physical now due to be on june 1. I m 5 10 184#, my parents lived to 90 & 95 with very few health issues & all 6 of my siblings are healthy. I will follow up with my doctor. the day of my life health exam, march 7th, I came down with a severe cold, then turned to puenomia along with a strain of the flu. I m slowing getting better. Should I be overly concerned about the ekg etc?, get a 2nd opinion? Lawrence.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear Lawrence, welcome to hcm and thanks for choosing us.

It is certainly a cause of concern. Irregular rhythm in EKG is a sign of problems in heart functioning. In my opinion it is related to some problems in conductivity of heart contraction. Your age can be a factor behind this along with your life style.

Although you and your family members never had any heart ailments, still you can get it. I would advise you to get an EKG again, go for an echocardiogram and get a cardiologist's opinion.

I hope my reply will benefit you. Please write to us for follow up queries. Kindly provide a feedback. I wish you good health and long life ahead. Thanks
