What Does Hyperechoic Focus In The Below Ultrasound Report Suggest?

Hello doctors my husband had ultrasound last week and the result was There is a hyperechoic focus with no evidence of shadowing notes at the right kidney measuring 0.3cm which may relate to cortical calcification. Is there something to worry about it... plz help.. ty

Hi as the report mentions the hyper echoic focus is actually an accumulation of calcium. To tell you if it is anything to be worried about I need to know more about your medical history and if you are having any symptoms. Many patients with such calcifications or cysts and other incidental findings don't experience any symptoms or problems and it may go totally unnoticed. So as long as you do not have any symptoms you can safely ignore it. You can get a repeat ultrasound every once in 6 months to one year interval to see if the focus is growing or if there are any changes. If there are changes it can be further investigated. If there are no changes or if it regresses and you have no symptoms there is nothing to break your head over. Unfortunately there are no tips is can give you to help reduce the calcification. A doctor who knows your entire medical history will be able to help you more. I hope this helps you. Take care :)
