Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a weird throat for about 2 weeks... weird meaning it doesn t hurt but its dry and feels like a string is in the back of my throat. the bumps on the back of my tongue seem enlarged and there are smaller bumps on my tongue. My throat is red and blotchy and had white spots, but they aren t there any longer. I tested negative for strep. Its really annoying and I don t know if I need medication or to see a specialist. Help!
You have symptoms of dry throat and bumps on the tongue which is due to chronic upper respiratory tract infection and sometimes due to excessive intake of medications. Need not to worry. I would suggest you do warm saline gargles on a daily basis. You should take throat lozenges. You should take antibiotic amoxicillin in combination with anti-allergic medication. Apply base gel on the tongue. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should get a throat swab test done and start treatment after proper diagnosis. Avoid oily and sharp food. Drink plenty of fluids.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
