What Does Cortical Echogenicity On An Ultrasound Report Suggest?
My child is 4year old suffering from fever since 6 days and cough he has undergone kidney ultrasound as he had blood in his urine ultrasound shows increased cortical echogenicity and was being given augmentin dds for past 3days 3ml bd now he does not have fever but has rashes on body is it augmentin side effect or a kidney disease? Please suggest..

Hi,
Suspected kidney stones look like cortical echogenicity on ultrasound and that must be the cause of blood in the urine. Antibiotic has been started to control kidney infection.
The commonest side effects of Augmentin are rash and itching. Please take him to your clinician who would start an alternative antibiotic.
