Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a nagging cough, I do not have a cold. When I go to bed and lay down especially when I lay on the left side I start to wheeze and I can hear the rattle in my chest which then I have to cough to clear it. I have talked to my doctor about it and she said it was probably an allergy and to take any over the counter allergy pills. I totally do not think it is an accurate diagnosis. I am a 67 year old female with no other medical conditions.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you are having symptoms of chronic cough and wheezing which could be due to bacterial and due to underlying medical condition such as lung infection/ pneumonia.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take diet rich in multivitamins, fruits and take multivitamin tablet as well to boost body immunity. Drink plenty of water to rehydrate yourself. Do warm saline gargles. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and go for blood and sputum test and start treatment accordingly. Take proper course of antibiotics along with antiinflammatory medications after proper prescription. Avoid outside food.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
