What Does An Itchy Rash On The Buttocks Indicate?

yes, thank you. My husband has a red like rash in the crack of his butt. It does not itch. Our primary Dr. said it was a fungus. We have put an ointment on it and now doing a powder. Some days it looks more red than other days. At the beginning it was almost blue. What type of Dr. should we proceed to? It has been almost 10 days with the tropical powder. Thank you

Hello,

Itchy rashes can be treated with antihistamines, if it is due to any kind of allergy. Your description of the rash doesn't correlate with fungal rashes.

So, no use in using such ointments powders, etc. you can get a biopsy done to know what is the etiology and can get treated accordingly.

If not, try Cetirizine or Levocetirizine and if it is purpural rashes, it needs to be investigated. It is better to try the above-mentioned remedies.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
