What Does An Episode Of Chest Pain Followed By Light-headedness Indicate?

recently, I had an episode where I felt a sharp pain in my chest, followed by light-headedness, and then the entire left side of my body went numb from face to foot. i had to stop and sit down and it was pretty scary...the doctors seem to think it may have been cardiac related because of my family history, but I am extremely healthy and physically fit otherwise, and was wondering if it could have been more neurological , i.e. TIA.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
hi
thank you for asking your concern and welcome to hcm. from the description given by you i can think of few condition where this can happen. as you told about family history, i assume it may be hypertension or some other cardiac condition. then i would strongly suggest you to please consult your doctor for hypertension at least. few things i would like you to make out, smoking, alcohol, height and weight from it you can take your BMI and if it is more than 25 ( you can find on internet how to measure bmi) , age more than 40. if any of these is positive then you must visit your doctor for check up. there are multiple condition which can mimic like it sudden gastritis, transient palpitation, TIA, seizure, hypogycemia also but these are just suspicion. it will be good to consult and make it clear.
i hope i answered your concern and if any doubt please ask us
regards
dr. abhijit
