What Does A Swollen Mole On The Side Of Waist Suggest?

I have a tiny mole on my side of waist. two days ago I went to see a dermatologist and checked if it is something that I should concern about. It wasn t swollen at all at then. The doctor looked at it and said it was just a benign mole. But today I noticed the mole got swollen and if I touched it I feel tenderness. I wonder what is it? If something I should be worried about. I hate to spend another visiting with that doctor since I just visited him a couple days ago.

Hello,

Swollen mole that may get tender or inflamed is indicative of infection. Infected mole commonly gets swollen, inflamed and if left untreated may cause discharge, bleed or cause pain and fever. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a dermatologist or GP. Your treating doctor will tell you to do a biopsy to detect if its benign or malignant.

If benign it can be treated with antibiotics or surgery (removal). If malignant it will be treated accordingly. Take care of your personal hygiene. And do not pick or scratch. Keep the affected area clean.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
