What Does A Swollen And Red Cyst On The Face Indicate?

I have cyst on my face, on the skin below the corner of my mouth. I went to the dentist a few days ago, and i think that having my mouth open for a prolonged period of time caused it to rupture. Now the cyst is very swollen and red, and the cyst and surrounding area of my face is numb. Do I need antibiotics, or will it go away on its own?

Hi,

If the cyst is already ruptured and the area around is red and inflamed then it is probably due to infection.

But first of all, it is advisable to consult an Emergency Room or a Physician and get evaluated and a clinical evaluation and has to be done.

As if it is a cyst then although it is ruptured then also the cystic lining has to be removed to avoid recurrence.

Along with it antibiotics can be advised to relieve infection and anti-inflammatory painkillers like Advil to reduce inflammation and pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
