What Does A Small Red Bump On The Abdominal Area Indicate?

To Whom This May Concern: I am checking on a symptom that my sister has. She has a small red bump (looks like a bug bite) in the right epigastric region of her abdomen. She says that it has become more painful over the past 12 months or so. From the pictures she has sent, it looks no bigger than .5cm. The center looks red, and she says that it has become a deeper red recently. It is painful when her shirt rubs against it, and it is painful to the touch. Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience. Best wishes, Ian Verhaeghe

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of small red bump in the right epigastric area, has become more painful over last 12 months, pains on rubbing of short, has become deeper red recently, tender, in case of your sister.

As per the history your have provided about your sister, this looks to be one of the following:
Infected sebaceous cyst.
Since there is no history of enlargement or showing any symptoms or signs, this may not be any cancer or so.
Neurofibroma can present in such a way.

I would advise your sister the following in such a way:
Clinical evaluation and examination by a General Surgeon.
Any other tests as may be required.
It is the best way to remove the lump fully so that she gets rid of the part which is not a normal part of the body.
Ans we get the definitive diagnosis by histo-pathology.
I find this answer helpful
