Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve got quite a small lump that is on the lower part of my armpit. It is an ingrown lump and is causing a lot of pain every time my arm is moved and it is stretched. When I have squeezed the lump a small amount of puss comes out but the lump still remains hard and painful. I can move it around under my skin but only a certain amount. Is this harmless?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The "bump" could be a boil because on squeezing pus has come. If it is painful, red and with pus, then you need to take a course of antibiotics like Augmentin, plus get it drained and dressed. If it is moving then could be a lymph node. So, get it properly examined and based on doctor's advice take necessary action. In any case antibiotic will be required. For controlling pain a painkiller may be used.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Prabhakar Laxman Jathar
