What Does A Skin Tag On The Upper Maxillary Frenulum Indicate?

I am a heavy user of dip. Recently I noticed a tag on my upper maxillary frenulum. I'm 21 years old and am wondering if I should be worried. I have no idea how long it's been there and can't feel it and it is not sensitive to the touch. I don't know how I haven't noticed and I wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't happened to look there recently

1. In best interest, it will be wise to see an ENT or Dermatologist for accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

PS. It could be a mucocele or a papilloma [all are harmless], but if you are in doubt seek consultation and investigations [if any]

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

A tag on the maxillary frenulum can be due to causes like a Mucous cyst or Mucocele, a wart or even a fibrous tissue hypertrophy..

So first of all you should consult an Oral Physician and get it checked..

In case if it is a mucocele then doing concentrated salt water rinses can help..
In case if it is a fibrous tissue hypertrophy then it can be removed with a minor surgical procedure..

So a clinical examination is must and if the excision is done it can be further investigated microscopically..

Hope this helps .

Regards..
