What Does A Pink Rash On The Left Hand Indicate?

I noticed a light patch of skin, pinkish to red in color, circular in shape (more like a butterfly) on the outer part of my left hand. I has not itched, no discharge, no pain. It just continues to get light and recently I noticed it has grown in circumference. It is a little smooth to the touch now but that is a recent occurrence. Sure hope you can help.
