What Does A Painful Lump On Soft Palate Indicate?

Hello I am 24 years old. i have a hard painful lump on the center my soft palate. It is red and very big. it can be seen when you look into my mouth. It is hard for me to eat because the food is rubbing against it when i swallow so it hurts. please tell me if this is something to be worried about.

Can understand your concern..

As per your complain a lump on the soft palate can be due to a number of reasons like it can be due to bacterial or viral infection,or it can be a mucous retention cyst or an inflamed and enlarged minor salivary gland leading to formation of an ADENOMA, it can also be a PYOGENIC GRANULOMA which is an overgrowth of issue and is caused due to trauma,injury or hormonal changes..

I would suggest you to consult a dentist or an ENT expert and get evaluated and treatment will be planned accordingly..

For pain you can take Ibuprofen or advil..

Avoid hard,hot and spicy food to prevent irritation..

Do warm saline gargles..

In case if the lesion does not reduce in size or resolve get a biopsy done..
