Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a whitehead on my lip one morning, popped it, and now it has become a very painful sore. Is it a cold sore? It isn't my usual spot to get one, and cold sores don't usually start out as whiteheads (at least for me), but this sucker is painful and ornery. Should I be treating this with something like Abreva? Or do I need to seek some other remedy?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of painful blister on the lips which could be due to allergic reaction, sun blister and it could be viral infection such as cold sore.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to
- Avoid exposure to sunlight and apply lip balm to moisten lips. - Keep yourself hydrate by drinking plenty of water. - Avoid hot, salty, spicy and sharp food. - Suck on ice pops. - Take vitamin B2 and niacin supplement.
If condition keeps on persisting then you should consult oral pathologist for proper examination and to rule out other systemic conditions. Doctor may start treatment accordingly and take antihistamine medications to prevent allergy.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
