What Does A Lump Under The Wrist Indicate?

Suddenly this morning without warning or injury, I have a large lump on the underside of my wrist. It it quite sore and is blue (like a vein). It is located just to the right of the main vein running up my wrist and feels like it may be over a vein itself. Is this something to worry about?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

Your symptoms seem to be related to a ganglion cyst.

The cause is unknown, but it is thought that small tears in the tendon membrane or joint capsule allow the contents to squeeze out.

Ganglion cysts go away by themselves without the need for medical treatment.

So,thereeis nothing to be worried about.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
